Leeds City College’s Students’ Union (LCCSU) works in partnership with Pudsey Sixth Form College and is an independent organisation that makes your student experience more enjoyable. From fun events to the promotion of student-led activity, our aim is to ensure you are engaged, represented and supported throughout your time at Pudsey Sixth Form College.
It’s important for students to have their say and our Students’ Union officers act as representatives for different groups. There are opportunities for you to become a student leader, have your say and work with the college to continually develop Pudsey Sixth Form College now, and for future students.
Tutorials and PHSCE lessons give you the opportunity to explore and discuss topics beyond your chosen courses. From developing a greater understanding of the world around us and preparing for life in modern Britain, to discussing health and wellbeing, equality, diversity and inclusion and citizenship, we explore a wide range of subjects. Focus is also given to your personal development in 1:1 tutorials.
The Welfare team supports students through crises, giving advice on benefit problems, debt, housing and homelessness, loss of work, and not having enough money for food and bills.

Sixth forms tend to be attached to a secondary school – you may have to wear a uniform and the provision tends to be limited to A Levels. Sixth form colleges are independent educational establishments, where students are treated as young adults and emphasis is placed on independence and preparing students for adult life beyond college. At Pudsey Sixth Form College you will have all the support you need to develop as a young adult. Our provision is predominantly A Levels but our hybrid programme offers the opportunity to explore vocational courses alongside A Levels.
No, we are not attached to any school. We are built very close to Crawshaw Academy, but we are separate from the school, with a separate entrance, building, and staff.
Pudsey Sixth Form College is part of Luminate Education Group, who run Leeds City College, Keighley College, Harrogate College and Pudsey’s ‘sister’ school, Leeds Sixth Form College. Luminate Education Group has many years of experience in delivering quality education, and the Group was awarded an overall ‘good’ rating in the most recent Ofsted inspection in 2022.
We offer a broad range of post-GCSE options, including an extensive range of A Level subjects, and we are offering two T Levels. A Levels are the traditional route to higher education. Highly respected by employers, they can also bolster job and apprenticeship applications. They allow students to specialise in a chosen set of subjects, building key academic skills such as independent research and communicating complex information.
T Levels are a great option after GCSEs as they blend classroom learning with workplace experience. If you already know what industry you want to work in, you can get a head start in your career by choosing a qualification that gets you work experience with an employer. The study element gives you the knowledge you need to succeed, and your work placement gives you the essential skills that you will use in your future career.
Our tutors are all sixth form specialists, who are passionate about their subjects and dedicated to helping you get where you want to be. Many have previously taught at universities and therefore can help you learn the skills you will need if you pursue a degree.

There is no uniform. We encourage students to embrace their individuality and makeup and piercings are permitted. We do ask that clothing is appropriate for college.
The general entry requirements for our courses are five GCSEs at grade 9-4, including English and maths (or equivalent). Some subjects may require a grade 5 or above in GCSE English or maths (please refer to individual course pages for specific requirements).
If you have below grade 3 in GCSE English or maths, we can still consider your application – depending on your chosen courses. In addition to your chosen programme, you’ll also study GCSE English or maths – equipping you with a key skill that will benefit your future education or work. Alternatively, our Step Up to A Levels (SUTA) programme may be suitable.
If you are currently in Year 11, you are welcome to apply. Three of the most local schools, Crawshaw Academy, Leeds West Academy and Co-Op Priesthorpe, have worked closely in establishing Pudsey Sixth Form College, but of course we welcome applications from students from other schools.

Yes, but think of it more as a chat with a friendly member of staff rather than a formal interview with an employer! You will be able to discuss your options with the staff member, working out the best pathways for you and finding what best fits your interests, passions and needs.
Each course will have its own admission criteria – just like any college or sixth form – but each case will be judged on its own merits. The reason we invite you to an interview is to discuss your requirements and find out what is the best for you.
You will be invited to an informal interview which will include specialist advice and guidance, ensuring you are given the best opportunity to achieve. After your interview, the team will decide whether to send you an offer. Offers are conditional, based on you achieving the relevant GCSEs, or requirements agreed at interview. An invitation to book an enrolment slot will be sent out mid-July, giving you all the information you need to enrol.
By the end of July, you’ll have received an email inviting you to book an enrolment slot. Enrolment opens on GCSE Results Day. You will need to bring your exam results, National Insurance number and a form of ID. You will receive your start date, ID badge and timetable before the start of term. If your results are not what you expected, you will be able to talk to a friendly member of our team who can help you find the right choice for you.
