Examining works of poetry and prose written before and after 1900, you will explore changes in narrative style, social change and the evolution of form. Focusing on the genre of ‘tragedy’, you will examine modern theatrical techniques and contemporary issues. Looking at works such as Shakespeare’s Othello, you will develop the skill of interpreting texts through different theoretical lenses.

A Level English Literature equips you with a broad range of highly valued transferable skills. Through analysis and critical thinking, you will develop the ability to understand complex information and articulate multiple nuanced viewpoints clearly, both in your writing and verbally.
